Heartland Spiritual Alliance: Call for Art Work for

HEARTLAND PAGAN FESTIVAL

A Dawning of a New Day

May 24 - May 28, 2012

Are you an artist and would like your art plastered all over the place announcing one of the largest Pagan Festivals in the United States? How about everyone cherishing your art on their t-shirt for years to come? Help about everyone cherishing your art on their t-shirt for years to come? Help us by submitting your design for this year's theme "A Dawning of a New Day". This phrase has lots of different meanings -- what does it mean to you?

The deadline for submissions has been moved up to enable us to send the

word out to the remaining festivals of the season. Art work needs to be in

digital format, AI or PSD preferred; large, high resolution scans are good

also. Art-work submissions that are being mailed by regular mail need to be post dated no later than August 12th. We do prefer submissions by email. Voting will occur during the August 14th HSA meeting.

Designs may be digitally produced or line drawn. They MUST meet the following criteria:

-Colors must be limited to no more than 8 colors. Please take into account that if you use white, that counts as 2 colors because a separate screen must be made to make the white visible on the t~shirt. Black and White artwork is also acceptable.

-Maximum print size is 14 x 16 inches

- the ideal file type for the designer are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Most all screen printing businesses live and die by those two programs. If you don't own one of those programs , there are several freeware programs on the internet that will do the conversion for you. If you can't find one of those programs please still submit your art. I have the programs on my computer and have other resources that have offered to help convert art, so PLEASE don't let that hold you back from submitting.

-All text must be accompanied by true font or flattened.

- Lines or designs smaller than 1/6 inch may be washed out.

-Colors are matched as accurately as possible. Given the variation of colors in computer monitors, we simply cannot guarantee perfect color accuracy.

Art can be submitted digitally to the merchandising@kchsa.org email address.

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was one of creativity.

It started off with some friends over for a craft day on Friday. Of course you can't start a craft day without a run to the craft store first ;)

After that adventure it was time to sit down and craft, well almost craft. Lol. There was a lot of chit chat going on and I'm not sure about anyone else that was there, but I didn't get as much done as I had planned. Still it was fun and we'll be doing it again this week.

Saturday was an adventure with some shopping and price checking. Word of advice don't go to the thrift store on a Saturday in Utah unless you're not prone to road rage or yelling at stupid people. Lol.

The bead store visit was interesting because it was a shop I'd never been in before and I just loved the selection they had. On top of that the sales associates were very nice and asked about the necklace, Captured Pearls, I was wearing.

As we were chatting about it an older lady, who I found out later is the owner of the shop, came over and started to ask questions. It seemed as if every answer I gave brought forth a new question and I happily kept answering. She seemed very interested which made me happy. When we were done talking she thanked me and my friend, Austin, and I left, eager to use our new purchases

We ventured to my house for our weekly fire pit. Since it had rained we couldn't get a fire lit and decided to stay inside. That was going to be one of the best decisions of the week.

As people began showing up and seeing us work on our creations they began to get creative also. Then an idea hit Debbrah and after setting her up with some wire, she began to work. As I watched I began to get excited at all the possibilities that could come from this sudden inspiration. She finished her creation and I began one.

Austin made rings out of them both, Debbrah's is the one on the right, and I set out to make a bracelet.

As I worked on the longer weave, Debbrah used some spare viking knit I had and made a snake, Austin finished his amber and jade necklace, Michelle quietly (it was a little shocking she could be quiet for so long :P) worked on her viking weave and we watched Case 39.

I spent the rest of the night working on the weave and thinking of ways to use it.
All in all it was a good weekend. :)

If anyone has any idea what this weave is called please let me know.
